Stairway to Nowhere - Xilitla, Hidalgo

Xilitla is a gorgeous hillside town nestled beneath limestone cliffs. Water is abundant and jungle vegetation used to be. An eccentric and wealthy surrealist, Edward James, bought a bunch of land in the 50s and constructed a surrealistic sculpture park out of cement - in some places blending with boughs and waterfalls and in some cases rising eerily up into the canopy on crumbling stairs.
